Leading People, Connecting Lives

The Training Course “Leading People, Connecting Lives” took place in Victoria, Romania, between August 25th and 29th, 2025, organized by Gamma Institute in partnership with Rosto Solidario (Portugal) and other European organizations.
The project gathered youth workers and facilitators from across Europe to explore leadership, communication, and connection in youth work through experiential and systemic learning.

Leading People, Connecting Lives

Day 1 – Introduction & Group Connection
The first day focused on creating a common ground and a sense of community among participants. After the arrival and check-in, the Romanian hosting team and trainers welcomed everyone, introducing the objectives and structure of the training.
Through interactive activities and icebreakers, participants got to know each other and shared their motivations.
A creative exercise called “The Personal Shield” invited everyone to symbolically represent their identity, strengths, and values.
Later in the day, the group explored the Erasmus+ programme and the project context, co-creating group agreements and communication rules.
In the afternoon, participants took part in an Organizations Fair, where each partner presented their work and local initiatives.
The day ended with reflection groups and shared conclusions about teamwork and first impressions.

Day 2 – The Purpose of a Leader
The second day introduced the topic of leadership through interactive reflection and dialogue.
Participants explored the question: “What makes a leader?” and were encouraged to identify personal values and driving purposes.
The trainers facilitated the PCM (Process Communication Model) and Leadership Introduction, helping participants understand personality types and communication dynamics in leadership contexts.
Through role-play and group exercises, participants practiced identifying different leadership styles and how they affect collaboration and group motivation.
The day ended with reflective sharing and journaling, helping participants integrate the concept of purpose-driven leadership.

Day 3 – Communication and Emotional Intelligence
This day deepened the understanding of interpersonal communication and emotional awareness in leadership.
Participants took part in non-verbal communication exercises and emotional decoding games to enhance empathy and clarity in group facilitation.
Workshops on active listening and feedback techniques allowed participants to practice supportive and transparent communication.
Group dynamics simulations showed how emotional intelligence supports constructive leadership, especially in challenging group situations.
The afternoon focused on identifying personal triggers and developing self-regulation strategies through reflective exercises.

Day 4 – Leading Groups and Connecting Lives
The fourth day focused on group processes, inclusion, and systemic awareness.
Through creative and experiential exercises, participants observed how leadership emerges in groups and how roles change depending on context.
Activities such as “Systemic Mapping” and “Group Sculptures” helped visualize power dynamics and interconnections between individuals and the collective.
In the afternoon, participants worked in teams to design small facilitation sequences or local workshops they could implement after returning home.
Reflection groups supported participants in linking personal insights with practical applications in youth work.

Day 5 – Integration, Evaluation & Closing
The final day was devoted to integration and future planning.
Participants reviewed their learning journey using creative tools and group dialogue, summarizing the competences they had developed:
- self-awareness and emotional regulation
- communication and empathy
- group facilitation and inclusive leadership
- intercultural collaboration
They completed their Youthpass reflections, exchanged feedback, and planned follow-up activities within their organizations. The training concluded with a Closing Circle, where participants shared a word and gesture symbolizing their growth, followed by a collective “Dance of Connection” celebrating the end of the course.

Overall Impact
The “Leading People, Connecting Lives” Training Course provided youth workers with practical tools and embodied experiences to strengthen their leadership and communication in youth work settings.
Participants reported increased self-confidence, awareness of their leadership style, and a deeper understanding of how to create inclusive, connected, and emotionally intelligent group processes.
The project fostered a sense of European cooperation and empowered participants to act as multipliers of conscious leadership in their local and international communities.
